Ben Duran Sr, PhD
Professor Emeritus, Texas Tech University


A member of the Texas Tech University (TTU) Faculty for the Department of Mathematics and Statistics, Professor Duran taught and advised graduate students at Texas Tech from 1971 to 2002. Prior to accepting a position at TTU, he taught at Eastern New Mexico University and was a Bio-Statistician at Baylor College of Medicine, while also an Adjunct Professor at Rice University, in Houston, Texas.

Professor Duran’s research focused on nonparametric statistics, reliability theory, and risk theory. He has directed over 50 Master’s and PhD students in Statistics, and collaborated with researchers in science and engineering disciplines, leading to the publication of 31 refereed papers and 6 books. Elected a Fellow of the American Statistical Association in 2001, he continues to be involved in the development of Applied Statistics and Statistics education.

He received a B.S. in Mathematics from the University of Albuquerque (1961), and an M.S. (1964) and Ph.D. (1966) in Statistics from Colorado State University.

Chintan is a highly accomplished professional with 15 years of experience in the field of Data Science, Fraud & Risk Management and Marketing Analytics in the Financial Services industry. Chintan has a breadth of knowledge in the financial services and payment industries through his experiences working on diverse portfolios ranging from private label, e-commerce, online payment, credit card, and personal loans. His work experience includes Dell Financial Services, Bill Me Later, PayPal and Barclaycard in various capacities, leading teams in delivering analytical projects that help solve business problems.

He received his B.E. in Production Engineering from Mumbai University (VJTI), an MBA
in General Management, M.S. in Industrial Engineering (Operations Research), and an M.S. in Civil Engineering (Advance Transportation Systems), all from Virginia Tech University.

Rick Sladewski


Rick has over 20 years experience in software development in support of projects related to data analysis, statistical modeling, optimization, and simulation.  Prior to Teled Analytic Solutions, he fulfilled a variety of roles at companies such as Boeing Aerospace, The University of Texas Applied Research Lab, Evolutionary Technologies, DejaNews, Austin Logistics, and Dell Inc.

He received a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute,  an MBA from Pace University, and an M.S. in Industrial Engineering/Operations Research  from the University of Texas.
